Friendsnippets is back

Friendsnippets is back since 7 hours now. Update took more time since some tests failed when we put online the version. It is only a maintenance upgrade of the engine. Currently friendsnippets run on last django trunk and use the last version of django-authopenid .

Everything is ok now. We have planned another update of friendsnippets around the end of the year. This will be a major upgrade with new services and a complete rewrite of some part of the engine. You will see ;)

friendsnippets closed for maintance

Since 8 am this mornig, Friendsnippets is unaivalable due to maintenance process. It will be back around 22 h 00 PM today anyway.

In the same time you could use Friendpaste, its new compagnon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

friendsnippets and openid

Hi all,

Long time we posted here. We are working hard to provide you a new version of friendsnippets with new features and some interface improvements :)

No status for now ;) But our current wok allowed us to rewrite a little the django application used for openid authentification. Since it could be interesting for anyone who want to play with openid on django we decided to opensource it.

Friendsnippets on the web.

goodnews for friendsnippets :) 2 french websites have made a news about friendsnippets : LinuxFR and Toolinux .

There is an interresting thread on LinuxFR about friendsnippets wiith very good idees. I'm working to implement some of them currently. More news next week ;)

Google Code Search and Friendsnippets

Major upgrade this morning on Friendsnippets. You can now use Google Code Search inside Friendsnippets . Search your snippets and add it if you want to your snippets. It's always more easy to find code and share it.

How it works ?
Go in searchbar , type your search , select "google search code" as search type and that's it. You are redirected on a page that display results. Save any snippet you want by clicking on save it link. Easy isn't it ? ;)



With this update, there are also other enhancements :
- You could now know when someone shared with you a snippet. Check it on the menubar.
- subscriptions pages display only unique snippets.
- Put your name and a lik to your homepage on your page. Now the world can join you ;) Fo in settings/edit to configure them.

Friendsnippets opensource repository

From the start Friendsnippets use opensource software : Django framework for the content, Mysql for the database, Openbsd for hosting, .... So it is normal to give back to the community that help us to launch friendsnippets. All opensourced code from Friendsnippets will be here :

For now we opensourced comment system used to let the members post comments on snippets. You can checkout from subversion here :

Friendsnippets in French / Friendsnippets en français !

French version of Friendsnippets is out. Choose your preferred language in top right corner. Need more work to translate support in french, but you could you use right now Friendsnippets in french, more languages are coming.
